What is the difference between a house manager, a personal concierge and Your Concierge in Costa Rica?2022-06-11T17:34:10+00:00

A house manager usually has responsibilities related to the functionality of the house, such as supervising and coordinating cleaning and maintenance workers. While a concierge would add greatness to a guest’s experience. When a personal concierge comes within a house rental, oftentimes offers services without any awareness of the significant impact the tourism industry has been having on our community.

At Your Concierge in Costa Rica, we acknowledge the local issues that are arising with the excessive development that began after the worldwide pandemic, when many people moved, partially or fully, next to a beach in the tropics and started working remotely. As a consequence, many foreign investors came into this area to buy land, develop new construction and businesses to supply the higher demand.

Unfortunately, the lack of awareness of many of them brought contamination in our rivers and oceans; and their lack of connection with this place and the local community make them not really thoughtful with the needs of local workers.

A big part of our mission is to address these issues, and we understand that our clients are conscious beings who appreciate being part of this solution and most importantly, they care about leaving a positive impact in this paradise that we all love and come to enjoy.

Why should I hire Your Concierge in Costa Rica?2022-06-11T17:34:41+00:00

When you hire us, you get the most eco & socially conscious luxury experiences available, because we are committed to taking care of our oceans and the local community. We donate part of our profits to a non-profit organization that addresses issues in our local coast, and we ensure fair conditions to our workers.

Moreover, it is important to mention that we recommend and collaborate exclusively with businesses who share these same core values.

This, along with our expertise and the extensive network of professionals which was built over many years, are our distinctions and what makes us unique.

Is Playa Santa Teresa close to San José?2022-04-27T20:55:27+00:00

Santa Teresa is a 6 hour drive from San José. This includes a scenic 70-minute ferry ride onto the Nicoya Peninsula. We recommend our clients to fly 25 minutes to Tambor or Manzanillo new Airport from San Jose and, we suggest chartering your own plane for the ultimate stress free experience – you land on the Airstrip in comfort, at your own leisure and with no delays.   Alternatively there are 6 commercial flights from and to Tambor per day.

We are happy to help you arrange flights with a private charter. The flight to Tambor or Manzanillo from San Jose takes 25 minutes and offers spectacular views over Tortuga island and the tip of the Nicoya Peninsula. The last flight has to leave San José before sunset (5-5.30 pm), as there are no lights on the landing strips. When you arrive in Tambor, you are approximately a 40-minute drive from Santa Teresa. When you land in Manzanillo you are about a 15-minute drive. Some guests opt for a helicopter that could bring you to a field within a 5-minute drive of your villa. Liberia International airport is another option for travelers and is about a 3-hour drive from town.

What should I bring?2022-04-27T21:12:50+00:00

The lifestyle here is very relaxed, bring swimsuits and cool casual clothing. One pair of sneakers is great for hiking and zip lining; otherwise sandals are probably the most comfortable. Throughout the year the weather remains an average of 85 degrees Fahrenheit (29 degrees Celsius), so jackets and warm clothes will be unnecessary except for your arrival in San Jose.

What is the weather like?2022-04-27T21:13:31+00:00

Along Costa Rica’s Nicoya Peninsula, the weather is between 80-90 degrees Fahrenheit (24-33 degrees Celsius) throughout the year. November through May is considered ‘ High Season’ this is usually when there is no rain at all. There is plenty of Sunshine, very little humidity and the town is alive. From May onwards, there might be quick showers at night, which everyone really appreciates at that time, especially the plants! Everything starts to look even more green and lush. Some showers from May until the end of August, this is called the ‘Green Season’ as everything turns lush and green due to the long awaited rain showers. Weather is the most beautiful from November until the end of August but can also be spectacular in September/October which is our ‘Rainy Season’.

What is the beach like in Santa Teresa?2022-04-27T21:14:18+00:00

The beach is spectacular with pristine white sand that goes on forever, leaning almond trees, coconut palm trees, therefore, lots of shaded areas and wildlife. The ocean water is warm and depending on the tide and swell, this beach is a great place to learn to surf but also perfect for the more advanced surfer with waves breaking every day.  For non-surfers, depending on the tide, you can swim straight on areas with no rocks.   Alternatively, you can take a short walk and find wonderful rock pools, young children especially love this as they can explore shells and small fish. Also you will be able to see the best sunsets of your life.

Are there a lot of bugs and mosquitoes?2022-04-27T21:14:42+00:00

Because we are located in the beautiful jungle of Costa Rica, we do have a few critters and mosquitoes during certain times of the year. We suggest using natural mosquito repellent at sunrise and sunset. There are long periods during the High Season when we have absolutely no mosquitoes at all, they are usually there, more during the rainy season.

Do I need to rent a car?2022-05-04T18:01:14+00:00

While it is by no means necessary, it will definitely make it easier to get around town and most of our clients do choose to rent a car, 4-seater buggy or ATV while they are here.

Having a car or ATV is great for making trips to the market, exploring the town or neighbors towns and to get to different surf spots.

If you do not wish to rent a car we can always call you a taxi. It will take them 10-15 minutes to get to your villa or hotel. All tour operators offer the service of adding transportation to any tour you choose.

Is there a medical center or hospital in Santa Teresa beach town?2022-06-13T21:39:02+00:00

Yes, there are some small medical centers in our town. We can also have a doctor come to the house for minor injuries or illnesses. For emergencies, we work with the best hospital in San Jose and have access to helicopter and private plane services.

Can I walk alone on the beach at night?2022-04-27T21:15:58+00:00

Like most countries in the world and especially in Central America, we do not recommend walking on the beach at night. After sunset it’s best to not stay on the beach unless you are in the company of others.

Where is the nearest bank?2022-04-27T21:16:24+00:00

There are two banks and three ATM’s in town. Banco Nacional located at the crossroad opens from 1-7 pm. Take in account that during high season the ATM’s go empty quickly. On Sunday it usually runs out of money and on Monday at 1 pm the ATM will be filled up. Any other day of the week there should be no problems getting money.

What is the local currency?2022-06-10T20:46:53+00:00

The local currency is Costa Rican Colones. The exchange rate is approximately $1 for 694 Colones. You do not have to exchange your money before you come here because everyone accepts dollars.
